Student Support Services

Faculty Handbook for Online Teaching and Learning

Identifying services for online students can be challenging. Angelo State offers many resources to assist faculty in providing students the most support possible.

The Office of the Dean of Students manages disability services, student discipline, behavioral intervention, federal/state compliance issues and reports, and an assortment of other initiatives and projects.

The Title IX office supports faculty, staff, and students. Title IX is a federal law that protects students from any form of gender discrimination, including sexual misconduct. No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. Faculty are considered Mandatory Reporters and must act if something occurs and must report all complaints to the Title IX office.

Students who are also parents are covered under the Title IX laws and can request accommodations for their courses. These accommodations may be provided while a student is pregnant, during any pre-or post-delivery complications, and while parenting or caretaking. Reasonable accommodations are modifications to a student’s classroom environment, schedule, or course delivery method.

If a student has accommodations or you need to refer a student for additional support, contact Student Disability Services.

Counseling Services at Angelo State University provides limited short-term therapy to currently enrolled students with a paid medical services fee. Therapy options include individual, group, relationship, family, and teletherapy. Counseling Services can also help connect students to community resources if a higher level of care is needed.

Named a “Military Friendly School” every year since 2010 and a “Best for Vets College” every year since 2014, Angelo State’s military-friendly environment extends beyond campus to the surrounding San Angelo community. Contact Angelo State’s VETS Center for more information about available services.
