Blackboard Learn Ultra
Ignite. Engage. Collaborate.
Scaling New Heights
We are excited to introduce Blackboard Learn Ultra, an upgraded Learning Management System set to transform our online learning environment.
More modern, efficient and effective by nature, Blackboard Learn Ultra allows us to provide an enhanced learning experience for our students. We have now begun our first semester with live courses in Ultra. We have approximately 50 courses in the Ultra experience for the Spring 2025 term, with representation from all five colleges. We are actively recruiting adopters for upcoming terms, as well as hosting monthly trainings covering Ultra. The monthly trainings can be found on the CDLI Training and Events webpage and are open for anyone to attend.
Over the next semester, the remainder of the faculty will have the opportunity to experience the enhanced features and intuitive design of Ultra during our soft-launch phase Summer 2025, as well as the monthly Ultra trainings. This gradual transition ensures ample time for adaptation and support, enabling faculty to familiarize themselves with Ultra’s innovative tools and streamlined interface. The goal is for the entire campus to be utilizing the Ultra platform by Spring 2026.

“Students will love the module-based learning environment in Blackboard Ultra.”

Project Timeline - Rams Renovate
No remodel happens overnight, and this isn’t a quick fix. It’s a comprehensive rebuild that will take a whole crew of faculty, IT and instructional designers. Together, we can tackle this renovation timeline.
Phase 1
- Early adopters begin training in Ultra courses.
Phase 2
- Early adopters will begin building their courses in Ultra for the spring 2025 semester.
Phase 3
- Students with early-adopter professors will begin taking their first online classes in Ultra.
- The next wave of faculty members will be trained and begin building their courses for the summer and fall 2025 semesters.
Phase 4
- More students will take online classes in Ultra.
- Remaining faculty members will be trained in Ultra to prepare for the fall 2025 semester.
- By the fall, most classes will be in Ultra.
Complete
- Full campus is transitioned to Ultra courses.

“You should 100% get trained and start building your courses in Ultra. You will find the course is better designed and easier to keep up with in regards to due dates and what students are doing. It was easier to create content in learning modules and eliminated all the course links I had to use before.”
