The Innovation and Research Hub (IRH) was introduced in fall 2023, utilizing grant funding from the National Science Foundation, and serves as the focal point for research collaboration within the university and with external industry partners. Its established research partnerships already include:
- Permian Energy Development Laboratory
- Naval Air Warfare Center-Weapons Division in China Lake, California
- Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma
The IRH also directly supports Angelo State’s extensive faculty, undergraduate and graduate student research programs in all academic disciplines, as well as ongoing efforts to increase the enrollment, retention and graduation of Hispanic, low-income and other under-represented student groups in the STEM fields. These efforts are supported by about $6.58 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation.
The ultimate goal of the IRH is to employ all of these collaborative research initiatives to promote economic and workforce development for the region, the state and the nation.
