Parking Frequently Asked Questions

Parking Services is located in the General Services Building at 1830 Rosemont Drive. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding university holidays.

No. Permits are required 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Visitor permits are available at the Parking Services Office. Visitors may also park in spaces designated as visitor parking or timed parking (15 or 30 minutes).

Please contact our office so we can assist you with parking arrangements for your guests. If you are bringing a visitor, guest speaker or small group to campus, we ask for at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare permits. Faculty Staff may use the online permit request form on our channel in RamPort. We will not send the permits through inter-departmental mail. Large groups or conferences will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Check with the person or department sponsoring the event. They may have already made parking arrangements with our office. Otherwise, contact our office to see what passes or permits are required for the event.

Anyone with a valid ASU parking permit may park in the “A”, “B”, “C”, or “D” zones after 2:30 p.m. 

You may not park in those zones before 2:30 p.m. Parking is restricted to the zone designated on the permit. Parking in “B” or “D” zones by any valid permit holder is allowed after 2:30 p.m.

General use lots are those designated as A/B/C/D parking on the campus map. This means that anyone with a current, valid parking permit may park in these lots. Lots currently marked as general use are:

• P28
• P29
• P31

University Police will attempt to jump-start your vehicle if it fails to start. They will also inflate a flat tire. These services are provided free of charge.

University Police may be able to unlock your vehicle for you.

Backing in or pulling through a parking space is not allowed on the ASU campus to help protect your vehicle from being damaged. In the past, we have had people back into vehicles parked behind them. By not allowing this we hope to reduce the damage to vehicles caused by inattentive drivers. Pulling through is not allowed, because we cannot tell if the vehicle parked was backed in or not.

Student permits and tickets are billed to your student tuition and fees account. This is NOT the same as your OneCard.

Parking permits are not mailed. They can be picked up at the Parking Services Office or at another designated location.

You may transfer the hang tag to the vehicle you are currently driving. You can also pick up a temporary parking pass from Parking Services if your forget your hang tag. Contact us so that we can assist you before you park without a permit.

Students with “D” permits may park in the reserved lot indicated on their permit or any “general use” lot. For example, if the permit is marked 39, you may only park in lot 39 and any (general use) zone. After 2:30 p.m., you may park in any of the other zones. Parking in the wrong reserved lot before 2:30 p.m. will subject you to the same violations as any non-“D” permit holder.

No. Student employees are not eligible for faculty/staff permits.

Hang tags may be transferred to your new car. Just notify Parking Services of the new vehicle information.

Short-term temporary or visitor permits may be obtained any day or time at the University Police Department, 2410 Vanderventer Ave. They will be issued for a short amount of time only. This is intended to allow you time to contact Parking Services during our regular office hours.

Yes. Notes are not valid passes. If you are parked illegally, with or without a note, you will receive a citation.

Yes. Appeals must be made within 10 days of the citation. The appeal form is available online & is submitted electronically. You will be notified by email of the decision.

A hold is placed on a student’s account when a citation is issued. This may result in the student not being able to register for classes, not receiving his/her diploma or not receiving a transcript.

Unpaid citations issued to faculty and staff may result in the denial of a parking permit the following year.

Those who receive more than four unpaid citations are subject to their vehicles being impounded (wheel-locked). Drivers then have 72 hours to pay the citations and wheel-lock fee or the vehicle will be impounded at the owner’s expense.

In most cases, appeals will not be considered if the fine has been paid. If the fine was paid to avoid classes being dropped, and this is indicated as part of the appeal, it will be taken into consideration.
