As a Friend of the Library and West Texas Collection, you:
- Provide Scholarships. Each spring and fall, the Friends present the Joe Bill Lee Scholarship to a deserving student employed at either library location.
- Support Exhibits. A variety of exhibits receive Friends sponsorship for public display.
- Facilitate Academic Success. During final exams at the end of each long semester, the Friends furnish free coffee and cookies for students studying in the library.
- Purchase Resources. Friends’ gifts help purchase books, archival materials and other items that enhance the library’s collections.
- Support the ROTC Veterans Vigil. Each fall during Veterans Day celebrations on campus, the Friends provide free refreshments for those who attend the ROTC Veterans Vigil.

Mission
Friends of the Library and West Texas Collection strive to enhance the collections, services, programs and facilities of its two locations: the Porter Henderson Library and the Dr. Ralph R. Chase West Texas Collection. Members work with library staff to promote the spaces and to assist in making the university’s library and archival resources more widely known, used and appreciated.
