What is the CAE-CD Designation?
The National Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) program promotes and supports high-quality academic programs that prepare students for careers in cybersecurity. Institutions receiving the CAE-CD designation must meet rigorous standards that ensure they provide top-tier cybersecurity education.
To qualify, institutions must:
- Offer at least one NSA-designated Program of Study in cybersecurity.
- Demonstrate significant community involvement, academic activities and institutional practices in cybersecurity.
- Foster ethical behavior among students, faculty, administrators and professional staff.
- Create an environment that encourages collaboration and knowledge-sharing in cybersecurity.
- Address and engage with emerging cybersecurity challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
ASU’s Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science degree earned the NSA’s Program of Study designation in June 2024, paving the way for the university’s CAE-CD recognition.
