Capt Evan Walters

Captain Evan Walters serves as the Recruiting and Education Officer and an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at Angelo State University Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 847. He is responsible for the education, training, and development of officer candidates into commissioned officers for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force.

Captain Walters is a native of Boerne, Texas and was commissioned through AFROTC Detachment 847 at Angelo State University in 2014. He lives with his wife, Amanda Walters of Boerne, Texas, and their two dachshunds Bailey and Flash.

He has served in various stateside leadership positions, and at deployed locations supporting OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, OPERATION SPARTAN SHIELD and the Combined Defense of the Arabian Gulf. As the Vehicle Management Flight Commander at Dyess AFB, TX, he was responsible for 55 Airman vehicle mechanics and fleet managers supporting the installation vehicle fleet and part supply chain of 474 vehicles, enabling transportation of crews and maintenance of B-1 and C-130 Aircraft. While at Nellis AFB, NV, he was the Deployment and Distribution Flight Commander, responsible for 150 Airman Vehicle Operators, Traffic Managers, and Aerial Transporters that facilitated cargo movement and personnel transportation needs supporting the Advanced Fighter Exercise of Red Flag, which quarterly brings together personnel and aircraft from 27 Air Force installations and 12 partner nation Air Forces. He was also, the Material Management Flight Commander and was responsible for 236 Material Managers, a $582M stockpile of aircraft maintenance parts, small arms, and deployment gear, and the supply chain supporting 52 aircraft consisting of A-10, F-15, F-22, F-35, and HH-60 weapon systems. Prior to his current ROTC instructor assignment, he was the Flight Commander of the Air Force’s Transportation Training Schoolhouse under the 345th Training Squadron, 37th Training Wing, Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. He was responsible for leading 30 Air Force, Navy, and Civilian instructors that annually trained and developed 3,000 transportation professionals to effectively execute in and manage the Air Force logistics enterprise.
