Lt Col Karyn Argueta

Lieutenant Colonel Karyn Argueta is the Commander and Department Head/Professor of Aerospace Studies, Detachment 847, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Angelo State University, San Angelo, Tx.
He administers the detachment’s officer training program and is responsible for commissioning the Air/Space Forces’ newest second lieutenants into active duty. He chairs the Department of Aerospace Studies and instructs a curriculum covering foundations and history of the Air Force, leadership, and national security affairs.
Lieutenant Colonel Argueta was prior enlisted in the Air Force for 10 years. He received his commission from Officer Training School (OTS) in 2004, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education & Training Development. Following OTS, Lieutenant Colonel completed Undergraduate Navigator Training and was selected to fly the KC-135 Stratotanker. In the tanker, he deployed in support of IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and RESOLUTE SUPPORT flying air refueling missions worldwide to include Special Operations Air Refueling missions in Afghanistan/Iraq and in the Middle East, offloading over 2 million pounds of fuel to Special Operations assets. He also served in several capacities, including Chief of Wing Command Post, Chief of Wing Current Operations, Deputy Chief Air Operations Center, United States Transportation Command, Scott AFB, Illinois where he has the air liaison and initiated planning of 231 presidential missions ensuring United States Global Engagement Strategy and stood up initial cadre of Strategy Directorate in Air Force’s largest Air Operations Center.
Prior to his current assignment, he served as an Inspector General at the 37 Training Wing & Director of Operations, 433d Training Squadron & 322d Training Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland AFB, Texas. He was second-in-command of approximately 75 personnel and 6,500 Trainees per year, producing the Air Force’s next generation of Warrior Airmen & Space Force Guardians.
