$50,000 Gift for New Nursing Scholarships

April 11, 2025

Angelo State University has received a $50,000 gift from the Texas Trust Gives Foundation to fund a new scholarship program in the ASU Department of Nursing. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of Texas Trust Credit Union.

The occasion was marked with a ceremonial check presentation earlier this month on the Angelo State campus as ASU President Ronnie Hawkins Jr. accepted the gift from Texas Trust CU Vice President Brett Nikolauk.

Starting this fall, the Texas Trust Credit Union Scholarship will award $10,000 to one undergraduate ASU nursing student each year for five years. The funds can be used for tuition, fees and books in the recipient’s junior and senior years. A new scholarship recipient will be chosen each year.

The nursing scholarship is a first for Texas Trust. Previously, its scholarships have supported students pursing degrees in education, engineering, fine arts and select trade programs.
