On-campus

Currently enrolled ASU students, faculty and staff can bring their picture ID and ASU OneCard to the Library Circulation Desk, and we’ll issue you a TexShare card.

Distance Learning and Dual Credit Students

Currently enrolled ASU students who do not have an ASU OneCard may obtain a TexShare Card by following the steps below:

1. Scan or photocopy your driver’s license and ASU ID Card on a sheet of paper and add the following information:
   • your CID
   • current mailing address
   • phone number
   • note requesting a TexShare card
2. Send your request via one of the following means:
   • Fax it to Circulation Desk, ASU Library, at 325-942-2198
   • Mail it to:
     Porter Henderson Library
     Attn: Circulation Desk
     ASU Station #11013
     San Angelo, TX 76909-1013
3. We will mail your TexShare Card to the mailing address you provide.

Faculty can create course reading lists with items discovered and linked from U-Search while never leaving the Blackboard platform. These lists can be used to supplement other course materials or could be used in place of a traditional textbook.

Each faculty member is responsible for obtaining or arranging to obtain copyright permissions for classroom materials. The Interlibrary Loan staff offers assistance with obtaining copyrighted materials through interlibrary loan.

Faculty members must comply with fair use, the rights of copyright holders, and the current copyright law. All requests must be used for non-profit, educational purposes.

While the Library does not charge for this service, applicable fees passed on by third parties must be borne by the requesting faculty/department.

The recording studio on the library’s 2nd floor is equipped with sound-dampening wall treatments, a computer, microphone, and camera. Faculty may reserve the room to record lectures, meet with online classes, hold virtual office hours, etc.

Reserve with your CID to assure that you can unlock the room using its keypad at the reservation time.

Will your students be performing research this semester? ASU librarians can demonstrate the latest and most effective methods for doing research. We recommend a flipped classroom-style approach to library instruction. Students complete video tutorials followed up with a librarian-led online Information Literacy Session.

Video Tutorials with Quiz

For your convenience, our Critical Thinking and Research Skills tutorials are housed in Blackboard. Enroll your students in the Critical Thinking and/or Research Skills modules. Each video tutorial covers various information/media literacy concepts and has optional accompanying quizzes.

Online Instruction: Information Literacy Sessions

We have scaffolded the Information Literacy Sessions to meet the needs of different courses while advancing student research skills and critical thinking. Typically, sessions focus on teaching students how to use general or topic-specific resources available online, as well as critically evaluating and synthesizing information. We’ll be happy to work with you to focus on instruction that will be the most effective for your needs.
