Field Training (FT)

Between cadets’ AS200 (sophomore) and AS300 (junior) years, they go to Maxwell Air Force and Space Force Base in Alabama to apply everything they have learned in so far ROTC.

Selection for field training is highly competitive. Throughout the encampment, cadets are placed in high-stress environments and expected to use the skills they have learned to accomplish daily tasks.

All travel, lodging and meals are provided. Cadets are evaluated by their supervising field training officer and ranked within their flight. The cadet’s ranking will be used, in addition to several other factors, to assign them a future Air Force and Space Force Specialty Code and also factors into pilot or navigator selection criteria.
