Mentoring is done formally through individual and small- and large-group gatherings, as well as informally as trusted points of contact throughout the year. Having engaged in honors themselves, mentors promote the program through word and action to both current students and through occasional recruiting opportunities for prospective students and their families.

Fall Semester
City as Text: Introduction to San Angelo
Inspired by a National Honors Initiative, first-year honors students are introduced to the city as mentor groups work to solve clues leading them to destinations around San Angelo.
Spring Semester
Freshman Community Engagement Project
Through a partnership with a local agency or program, first-year students and their mentors engage in a collective project to meet community needs.
Group Meetings
Mentor groups meet each semester to discuss important program information and engage in bonding activities.
Individual Meetings
Twice a semester, mentors meet with first-year students to check in on their overall well-being, adjustment to college, and progress in meeting program requirements.
