Experience

My research interests focus primarily on how non-physiological factors (e.g. social, cognitive, personality) may influence the perception of pain and contribute to pain outcomes. Currently, I am studying the role expectancy/learning has on monoamine systems and the influence those systems may have on the development and magnitude of the placebo effect observed in pain. Additionally, I am interested in whether the non-physiological factors associated with pain overlap, if at all, in addiction processes. The overarching goal would be to develop research information that is useful to clinical and counseling practice.
