Charles and Misty Mullin originally came to the ASU Small Business Development Center in 2019 to seek advice on purchasing a local premier niche chocolate-making business.
They met with business advisor Dave Erickson on the process of buying a business, which included the various ways of valuing a business, financial analysis, and lending options to assist in the purchase of a business. With the advisors help, they were able to purchase the business and spread their love for gourmet chocolates with San Angelo and beyond. Soon after, Charles and Misty Mullins were able to win 1st place in the 2021 San Angelo Business Plan Competition and Misty was awarded the local SBDC Women Owned Business of the Year award.
In more recent years, they have continued to create new, innovative, and interesting products, increasing the demand for their delicious chocolates. They use a very creative social media strategy to promote the business and continue to work with their business advisor on future projects. Because of their increase in demand and sales, they were ready to expand. The expansion of their retail business came in the form of new locations in Glen Rose and Granbury Texas. The San Angelo location continues to manufacture all the chocolate which is now sold in all 3 retail locations in Texas.
“Business has continue to grow. Currently business is up 71% from previous year.”
