Application Deferment Request

We understand that sometimes plans change. The ASU Office of Admissions offers applicants the opportunity to request their application be deferred from one term to another. Here is our policy for deferring an application:

  • This is a one-time courtesy. Each applicant is eligible for one deferment per application. Subsequent term changes will require a new application and application fee.
  • Both terms must be active. Active terms are terms for which we are accepting applications.
  • Deferment requests are for one semester (excluding summer terms). If you need to defer your application beyond one long semester, you must reapply and pay the application fee.

Graduate, international and dual-credit students should contact their department for deferment opportunities specific to them.

I understand that I may be granted tentative admission to ASU based on the application and supporting documents previously provided. This decision is subject to change if complete and official transcripts from all institutions attended no longer support my eligibility. I also understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that the information on file with the Office of Admissions is accurate and up to date. Admission requirements are subject to change, and I may be required to meet the new or different requirements.
