ACT Residual

What is the ACT Residual?

The ACT organization permits the administration of the “On-Campus” ACT Residual to students who: 1) have applied to, 2) been admitted to, or 3) are enrolled at Angelo State University. Scores from the ACT Residual are reported only to Angelo State University.

Why take the ACT Residual?

Although ASU has a “Test Optional” application option, there are advantages to taking the ACT Residual:

  1. ASU Distinguished Scholarships are awarded based on ACT scores.
  2. Texas Success Initiative (TSI) offers exemption based on ACT scores
  3. Undergraduate students may earn Credit By Examination (College Course Credit) based on ACT sub-scores (English 1301/1302, Math 1314, and Physical Science credit).

Registration

The ACT Residual is given at the ASU Testing Center on specific dates throughout the academic year. By completing the online ACT Residual registration, you are also granting permission for the Angelo State University Testing Center to release your test results to the Angelo State University Undergraduate Admissions Office.

The fee for the ACT Residual is $75 and must be paid online with credit card at the time of scheduling. ACT fee waiver vouchers can only be used when registering for a National ACT and are not accepted as payment for residual testing. The testing fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Seating is limited. Once filled, the date will be removed from the schedule.

The Testing Center is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Registration forms submitted after 5 p.m. will not be processed until the next business day.

You are not officially registered for an exam until payment is made and a confirmation email is received.

Accommodated testing is not available with ACT Residual testing. Students requesting accommodations or EL support should complete an accommodations request for testing on a National ACT date http://www.actstudent.org/

Retest Restrictions

Students may take the ACT no more than 12 times total (National and Residual combined). If a student tested previously through Residual Testing, the retest should be taken on a regularly scheduled ACT Test Date. A minimum of 60 days must elapse before repeat Residual Testing. If the retest restrictions are violated, the retest scores will be cancelled automatically without refund.
