The San Angelo Business Plan competition is for newly started and existing businesses. See the full eligibility requirements listed in the competition guidelines.
Two-phase competition: Phase I requires a Business Overview submittal. Those selected as finalists move on to Phase II, which requires a draft business plan and a $50 entry fee for the final phase of the competition. Finalists will submit a complete business plan and present a live presentation to a judging panel for award decisions. The competition is for newly established and existing ventures located in San Angelo or its ETJ (3.5 miles outside city limits).
The most important date is the initial entry date. This is updated each year for every competition. The entry date is posted on the main webpage of the Business Plan Competition and advertised in the community.
1st place receives a $50,000 grant
2nd place receives $30,000 grant
3rd place receives $20,000 grant
The winners of the competition also receive in-kind services provided by local businesses, these are different every year based on the donations by our local professional services.
ASU Small Business Development Center, ASU Norris-Vincent College of Business, and The City of San Angelo Development Corporation (COSADC).
Guidance is available to all contestants for all phases of the business plan competition and is provided by the ASU Small Business Development Center Certified Business Advisors. Finalists in the competition are paired with ASU’s Norris - Vincent College of Business students under the supervision of SBDC Certified Business Advisors to assist in completing the written business plan and preparing the live presentation.
If you are awarded one of the Business Plan Competition Grant awards, you will be required to complete a grant agreement with the COSADC.
