Bizpitch F.A.Q.

The competition is open to ASU students in all majors enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for undergraduate students and/or 3 hours for graduate students.

Students can compete individually or in teams of up to 4 people. All team members must be currently enrolled at ASU and be taking a minimum of 6 credit hours for undergraduate students and/or 3 hours as a graduate student. 

The video can be up to 5 minutes. The production quality is not evaluated, you can simply use your phone to record. Your video should describe your business idea, share your passion, and convince us that you should be a BizPitch Finalist!

We have seen retail, restaurant, fitness, professional services, entertainment, manufacturing, etc.  

Your business concept does not need to be a new invention; it just needs to be a business idea that you would want to pursue.  

No, a short list of finalists will be announced from all submissions entered and those finalists will be notified that they will present live to a panel of judges. 

The awarded cash prizes are considered as seed money for these specific startups, but also as investments in the university’s overall ecosystem for entrepreneurship. The money from the competition is considered taxable income. You do not have any obligations as to how the money is spent.  

 The live business pitch presentation is hosted as an open event. A panel of judges, guests of the contestants, and community members are invited to attend.  

No, you are not required to start the business. This is a learning opportunity. If you would like to start a business, the advising team at the ASU SBDC will be happy to help you.  

The ASU SBDC is a part of the Norris-Vincent College of Business that provides no-cost business advising and training to the San Angelo Community and surrounding areas.
