Excellence in Banking

The Excellence in Banking Program (EIB) provides a Certification in Banking for Business majors or a Minor in Banking for AgriBusiness & other majors upon graduation.

In addition to your degree from Angelo State University, these enhance your opportunities by providing skills critical to successful commercial banking professionals.

Competition in the banking industry for knowledgeable bankers is very intense, with ability and experience currently in high demand. The need for quality trained bankers is reflected in the compensation seen throughout the industry.

Our curriculum was specifically designed by the NVCOB, in collaboration with our banking partners, to provide students with training previously available only through industry programs. The courses are designed to complement a business or agribusiness degree, and many of the courses can be utilized to meet either existing course or elective requirements.

Students who participate in this program are required to complete a banking internship. The internships are competitive and paid.

  • “The Excellence in Banking Program at Angelo State University allowed me to acquire specialized skills in credit & lending analysis that prepared me to be career-ready right after graduation. I gained invaluable knowledge and even more respect for the principles that Sonora Bank embraces. I loved my time with Sonora Bank so much, I had the privilege of transitioning from an intern to a full-time position as a Credit Underwriter in Boerne, TX. I am proud to be a Ram!”

  • “The Excellence in Banking program has an exceptional curriculum that helped me seamlessly start my career in banking. Obtaining the credit essentials certificate was my favorite part of the program, it provided me with ample knowledge that I was able to use in real time through my internship. My time as an intern at City National Bank was unforgettable. Being able to work for a community bank helped get me involved in the community and build connections with other banking professionals.”
