Would you like to shape the cities, facilities and systems of the future?
Do you want to design new buildings or roads and bridges? Or maybe you’re interested in providing safe and clean water and power systems. If you’re ready to take new scientific discoveries and put them to practical use in building and improving our nation’s critical infrastructure, then you should consider a major in civil engineering.
We offer a wide-ranging civil engineering degree that will prepare you to be a practice-ready engineer as soon as you graduate. You can tailor your degree plan to fit your interests, and you will also gain practical experience in our state-of-the-art labs, in field classes and through internships with local engineering firms.

What Can You Do With a Degree in Civil Engineering?
Start your career as soon as you graduate. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment for civil engineers is expected to grow by over 20,000 jobs by 2031, with a median annual salary of $88,000.
Our graduates can expect to find career opportunities in the energy industry, surveying, geotechnical engineering, construction and land development, transportation systems, water resources, structural engineering and similar fields.
Dynamic Facilities
You’ll spend a lot of time in our Hunter Strain Engineering Labs. This $4.5 million, 8,000-square-foot facility houses several labs essential to a strong civil engineering program, including the Hydraulics Lab, Geotechnical Lab and Construction Materials Lab. They are all stocked with the latest in high-tech engineering equipment for hands-on learning and research.
RAMgineers Lead the Way!
Our RAMgineers student organization will provide you with multiple networking and professional development opportunities. You’ll also have the chance to compete against teams from other schools in state and national civil engineering and surveying competitions. Ever tried concrete bowling? Here’s your chance! We also have a chapter of the Society for Women Engineers.
Industry Advisory Council
This group of leading professionals from local, military and state-wide engineering firms helps keep our program on the cutting edge, visits with our students in classes and labs, and guides field trips to working engineering projects. They also provide paid internship opportunities. You’ll get a first-hand look at professional engineers at work.
