What Can You Do With a Degree in Agricultural Science and Leadership?
Our graduates work as high school ag teachers and county extension agents throughout Texas, as well as in various other agricultural science fields.
Texas has an ongoing need for high school ag teachers, and this degree will prepare you to take the Texas teacher certification exam for agricultural science. The practical experience you gain will also give you an advantage when it comes to applying for a variety of agriculture industry jobs, or for graduate school.
MIR Center
You’ll spend a lot of time at the Management, Instruction and Research Center, our 6,000-acre ASU Ranch. It includes our Mayer-Rousselot Agriculture Education Training Center, where you’ll combine what you learn in class with the hands-on trades and lab skills essential to your career. The ranch is also where we raise cattle, sheep and goats, grow and produce feed, and conduct a variety of range and wildlife management activities.
Tradition of Excellence
Our agricultural science and leadership graduates have a 100% pass rate on the state TExES teacher certification test for high school agricultural science. Our integrated program of in-class learning and hands-on training leads the way in preparing you to become an ag teacher in Texas.
Living Learning Community
A section of our Plaza Verde residence hall is reserved for incoming freshman ag majors who will live on campus. Living with fellow ag majors will help you adjust to college life, make new friends and get involved.
